Q: I would like to have my furnace cleaned - Do you provide this service?
A: Yes & No. This questions seems simple enough on the surface however the word "cleaning" in our business can mean different things so we will explain. The cleaning service we provide on your furnace will involve cleaning, inspecting and testing the various parts on your furnace. For example: The burners, the safeties, thermocouple and so on. We inspect the burner chamber for cracks and many other services. However, cleaning can also involve cleaning your furnaces heat exchanger area and ductwork throughout the house. This type of cleaning involves special equipment and we do not provide this service. However we do recommend a company that does this service and does a fantastic job. contact us for details on who we recommend. If you find you need the ductwork cleaning type of service it is better to have this service performed first before we arrive to avoid two service calls from us.
Q: My Heat Pump/Air Conditioner outside is freezing up. What should I do?
A: What you can do First, is check your Air Filter in your furnace and make sure it is clean. Second, make sure your outside unit is free of debris around the sides and on top. If both areas are clean then the system needs to be shut down and you need to contact us for a service call. The unit needs to be ice free when we arrive so we can perform the proper testing.
Q: I have a Natural/Propane Gas Furnace and my fan will not come on. What should I do?
A: First, go to your Thermostat and set the "Fan Switch" from "Auto" to the "On" position. If the fan comes on then you have established that you have power to the system. If the fan does NOT come on in this position then check your Breaker/Fuse Box to see if the breaker is tripped or a fuse is blown. Or check to see if someone has turned off the switch at the furnace. If those both are ok then you should contact us for a service call. If the fan does come on then put the "Fan Switch" back in the "Auto" position and turn the thermostat's temperature up higher to get the Furnace to come on or lower to get the Air Conditioning on. If the Heat still does not come on in a few minutes or if the Air Conditioner does not come on right away then you need to contact us for a service call.
Q: I have an Fuel Oil Furnace and the furnace will not fire. What can I do?
A: First, Check to see if you have run out of Fuel Oil in your tank. Most tanks have a gage on the top to show how much oil is left in the tank. Second, find the reset button which is normally on the burner of the furnace and push that button. The burner will make a noise for about a minute and then hopefully fire right up. If not, and you have not had service performed on it for about a year then you need to contact us for a service call. Also if your Fuel Oil tank is located outside of the house and is above ground then there is a chance of the fuel oil freezing in the lines. It might be a good idea to plan ahead for this possibility, they make electrical heat tapes that can be installed on the oil lines to reduce the chance of freezing.
Q: How come the New Equipment Bid I got from you is higher than the other bids I received.
A: First, you need to find out if all your bids are comparing the same type of equipment. There are many options that you can choose from in the market today. There are various levels of efficiency, various quality brand names, different levels of warranty coverage and you may not be comparing apples to apples when different dealers supply you with bids. If you believe our bid is too high or low or confusing in any way then please contact us and our sales staff will be happy to explain the differences and even present you with more options if you would like them.
Q: My old furnace is still working but I have purchased a new one from you and why have I not gotten it put in yet?
A: We strived to give the best possible service and get your new equipment installed as fast as possible. However, at times when customers old equipment is still operating there might be a slight delay in the installation due to our crews busy installing a new system for customers who have equipment not operating at all.
